Access Bank, one of Nigeria’s top commercial banks, has informed customers that they can now resume online transactions, withdraw cash from Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), and make Point of Sale (POS) payments using their ATM cards, following a service disruption that occurred on Sunday.
The bank released this update in a statement after experiencing several hours of service interruptions over the weekend.
Access Bank confirmed that the issues have now been resolved.
“Your Access Bank cards are fully operational again. You can now easily transact online, withdraw cash from ATMs, and make POS payments! We appreciate your patience,” the bank communicated in a brief message on X late Sunday night.
Earlier that day, many Access Bank customers took to X to voice their frustrations regarding the service disruptions. The bank had previously announced a temporary halt in services.
The bank had earlier informed customers about a temporary disruption in banking services on Sunday, scheduled from 3 am to 2 pm, due to a system upgrade.
However, even after the stated time had passed, the disruption continued, leading to frustration among Nigerians who took to X to express their dissatisfaction on Sunday.
